Summer Stock Auditions
This audition is meant to be super low key and specifically designed to instill confidence for the kids. Kids will need to prepare 32 bars of a song – this can be any song at all. Have them choose a song they love and are familiar with. Students can sing acapella (no music) or with a track right off of their phone. For the younger set this can be as simple as “Happy Birthday” if that is what they are comfortable with.
In addition, we like to see a one minute monologue. This can be a joke, a story or a monologue they find on the web – there are LOTS of resources out there.
It is great if the kids can bring a headshot, a school photo or any picture of themselves. This just helps us identify students when we are working our way through assigning roles.
The main thing we want to stress is that there is no pressure. All of our teachers want the kids to succeed. All kids will be given a part in the show. The reason we have the kids audition is so that we can correctly place/cast them in roles that will ultimately encourage a love of the arts. We look forward to seeing everyone on May 18th!
